I’m proud and honoured to be writing to you all as GAGS Captain for 2011. Firstly I’d like to congratulate last years’ Captain, my great friend Pat McDonagh, for such a successful term. Pat will be a hard act to follow but I‘m relishing the challenge and really looking forward to the year ahead. I’m delighted to announce that Brian Lennox will be my Vice-Captain and on behalf of all the GAGS Committee, we’re looking forward to seeing you all in action again as often as possible this year.
We begin the new season on Wednesday 13th April at The Buckinghamshire Golf Club and you will see that we have managed to secure our favourite courses again this year.
As usual, our Irish tour takes place during the first week of September and this year we chalk off another 2 counties in our quest to play golf in all 32. Look out for more details in the coming months to book your place.
On behalf of GAGS I’d like to sincerely thank all our sponsors for their continued support, it is greatly appreciated, especially considering the current economic climate.
Congratulations to Padráig Colohan on winning a “double” in 2010. Not only did he win Golfer of the Week on the Irish Tour, but he also managed to beat Pat McDonagh in the final of the Matchplay Championship, and congratulations also to Andrew Doyle who won the 2010 Golfer of the Year competition. Andrew seems to be improving each year and managing a hole-in-one on the 18th hole at Moor Park on Captains Day was quite something!
Good luck to you all and I look forward to seeing you at the Buckinghamshire on Wednesday 13th April
